Reviews
Hmm, it's not exactly what I expectedReview date: 2010-09-04 Rating: 6 out of 10I'll start by saying I have not got very far into the game yet, I've maybe played 3 hours so far. This is a review of my game experience so far.
I was (unlike a lot of other people) extremely UNDERwhelmed by the graphics. The last two games I played were Splinter cell conviction, and Assassins creed 2, both incredible graphically, so RDR was a bit of a step down.
But I was willing to overlook this, as I reasoned that because the 'world' of RDR is so big it would be difficult for them to make every perfect.
It does get a bit irritating when your horse gets 'stuck' on a piece of juddering pixels that can't decide if they are a rock or a bush.
I too, found it very irritating that great chasms open up sometimes, and sometimes your horse is stuck on the rim of it, and sometimes the horse falls down it.
Dying in water is quite annoying too.
I also don't really GET what's happening story-wise. I don't know if I've missed a cut scene or what but as far as I know, I went to see Bill on the train, got shot now I do random good deeds for people........I can't really see the point of the game yet.
In the effort to provide you with lots to do, they've lost the main plotline.
Some of the mini-missions are HORRENDOUSLY dull, like cattle herding, or going from A to B whilst listening to PIXELS waffle on for AGES about a load of crap that is pointless.
Understanding the hundreds of icons on the map that mean a myriad of different things is difficult.
The auto-target is very annoying when trying to shoot a nearby deer, and have yourself accidentally shooting a guy who is BEHIND you! But without the auto target, trying to shoot the baddies that appear from nowhere on horseback is impossible.
These little foibles might possibly get less irritating as I progress through the game, I certainly hope so.
The poker is a lot of fun :) The hunting for deer etc is fun, shooting people is fun (although how to capture fugitives without killing them is far too difficult!)
This game reminds me a lot of the other rockstar production, Bully.
If you approach this game expecting a giant sandbox then you won't be disappointed.
But don't expect a slick storyline, expect a little repetiveness.
Red Dead, Drop Dead GorgeousReview date: 2010-09-01 Rating: 10 out of 10Wow.. What a game, Epic beyond anything I have played previously. Its GTA and then some. I would recommend this game to anyone. The single player missions will keep you entertained for a long long time and the multi player is equally as fun.the story spoils the game !Review date: 2010-08-27 Rating: 6 out of 10i just felt that how the end panned out was very weak compared to the rest of the story and the game . Other gamers who have completed will understand ! Other than that the gameplay is amazing and map is obviously huge , maybe not as good as GUN but all in all a great western that I 'll always go back to .Great funReview date: 2010-08-27 Rating: 10 out of 10If you like GTA you will love this. It's similar to GTA but set in 1919 southern America there are always things to do whether its the seamlessly never ending campain or playing multiplayer, there are endless hours of fun to be had
